Naya Rivera Death Update, Husband and Children


Naya Rivera was an American actress who was declared dead in July 2020. She was also a model and musician who was well known for her performance on the hit musical drama series Glee.

She began acting and modeling while she was young, first making appearances in national television advertisements.

Naya Rivera Death Update

Naya Rivera drowned on July 8, 2020, at Lake Piru, close to Santa Clarita, California, while boating with her four-year-old son. Her body was found in the lake on the morning of July 13 after a five-day search.

She portrayed Collette Jones, the lead female character, in the tv show Step Up, which was in between seasons at the point of her passing, as per Wikipedia.

Rivera drained herself trying to save her son’s life in the lake, the investigation revealed, and the death was declared accidental. After her passing, Lake Piru’s swimming was prohibited by the government.

Rivera’s ex-husband, Ryan Dorsey, and his estate filed wrongful death claims against Ventura County and Lake Piru authorities in November 2020.

On July 24, 2020, she had a private service joined by friends and relatives, including colleagues of the Glee cast. She was thereafter laid to rest in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills, a cemetery well-known for its many celebrity burials.

Days after the actress passed away, a tribute to her was built behind the Lake Piru sign. In his award speech at the end of July 2020, Filipino director Drama Del Rosario honored her and her team.

Meet Her Husband And Children

Naya Rivera was married to her husband Ryan Dorsey and the couple has been blessed with one child named Josey Hollis.

On July 19, 2014, the pair wed in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Although they didn’t make their engagement or ceremonies public until July 23.

In 2015, on September 17, they give birth to a son. The American actress had learned more Spanish in order to raise Josey as a bilingual in both Spanish and English.

After two years of marriage, Naya asked for a divorce from Dorsey in November 2016. However, in October 2017, she opted against divorcing him.

The actress reportedly hit Dorsey in the head during an argument over their child. She was detained and convicted in Kanawha County, West Virginia, of criminal domestic assault against him.
